Cry for justice

Indeed rape is one of the most heinous crimes but it has become a common practice in Indian society.Indian society still lacks the compassion and humanity to treat raped women with grace and sympathy.Only a woman who has undergone such brutality understands the pain, dismay and disgrace that it beholds. And reluctance of Police to take down victims' complaints further adds to their pain.

WHY FALTA POLICE(West Bengal) REFUSED TO REGISTER AN FIR AGAINST 5 YOUTHS WHO RAPED A SCHOOLGIRL?????

WHY PARK STREET POLICE(West Bengal) DELAYED THE INVESTIGATION OF PARK STREET CAR RAPE CASE?????

Well, the 2 questions have a common answer!!!
Police officers are concerned that they are not blamed for any abnormal spurt in crime in their jurisdiction. To avoid unwanted publicity, our police force often indulge into the abominable practice of non-registration of crimes.Hence several crimes specially gangrapes go unregistered.Eventually the rapists are found roaming freely while the victim bears the brunt of psychological burden throughout her life. This reminds me of the Maya Tyagi incident (Uttar Pradesh). While several were convicted of rape only one was sentenced to life prisonment due to so called "lack of evidence".

However,in most cases, rapists ecape judicial punisment due to lack of evidence.Just imagine how much painful  it is for a victim to see a rapist escape punishment.Even if the victim , after overcoming all these ordeals, endeavours hard to get back to normal life, it is the society which stands in her way.The constant scrutiny of the neighbours and colleagues, the burning gaze of relatives, the sexual remarks of every onlooker futher worsen the mental condition of the victim.Eventually the victim is compelled to commit suicide. With this another voice crying for justice fades away....
